Institute of Continuing Education students registered for an award-bearing or short course during the 2022-23 academic year are warmly invited to join a formal dinner to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the University of Cambridge's official approval of the Local Lectures Syndicate.
The Local Lectures Syndicate was the world's first university-led extramural education provision. The University formally approved the creation of the Syndicate on 05 June 1873. The first teaching took place later the same year. 150 years later, the Syndicate is now known as the Institute of Continuing Education.
The celebratory formal dinner will take place at the Institute's headquarters Madingley Hall, a sixteenth century country house located four miles west of the city of Cambridge. Weather permitting, drinks on arrival will take place on the North Lawn with a four-course dinner served in the Dining Room.
The dinner will be an excellent opportunity to network with peer students and mark the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Institute.
Tickets are limited to 100 places.
